Abstract: Objective：To explore the effect of nutritional support based on screening tool for risk on nutritional status and growth (STRONGkids) on nutritional status and clinical outcome of children after general surgery.
Methods：A total of 131 postoperative children receiving operations in our department from June 2018 to December 2019 were selected as the research subjects, and they were divided into 65 cases in the control group and 66 cases in the observation group using a random number table method. The control group was given routine nutritional management after the operation; the observation group was given the nutritional support of STRONGkids nutritional risk screening after the operation, and the intervention effects were compared.
Results：The levels of albumin (Albumin, Alb) and prealbumin(Prealbumin, PA) in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group at 7 days after surgery and at the time of discharge(P<0.05); the infection rate of parenteral nutrition(PN)-related catheters in the observation group was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05); the postoperative incision infection rate was significantly lower in observation group than in the control group(P<0.05); the incidence of anastomotic leakage was lower in observation group than in the control group(P<0.05).
Conclusion：Nutrition support of STRONGkids nutritional risk screening can improve the nutritional status and clinical outcome of postoperative children in general surgery department.
