Abstract:

ObjectiveTo investigate the effect of serum vitamin D level on respiratory failure in neonates.MethodsTotally 149 neonates with respiratory failure treated in our hospital from June 2018 to June 2020 were selected， and 208 healthy neonates born in our hospital during the same period were selected as the healthy control group. The clinical data of the two groups were collected and sorted, including gender, residential area, age of parents, body mass at birth and gestational age, as well as peripartum indexes and neonatal diseases.ResultsThe serum vitamin D level of the neonates in respiratory failure group was 21.6(14.60，24.00)μg/L，lower than that of healthy control group［25.32(24.00，26.37)μg/L］, the difference between the two groups being statistically significant(P<0.05). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that preterm birth and pulmonary infection were independent risk factors for neonatal respiratory failure(P<0.05), 5-minute Apgar score and serum vitamin D level were protective factors for neonatal respiratory failure(P<0.05). Correlation analysis showed that there was a positive correlation between 5-minute Apgar score and neonatal serum vitamin D level(P=0.01).ConclusionThe occurrence of respiratory failure in the newborn is closely related to many factors， and the deficiency of serum vitamin D is one of them.
