Abstract: ObjectiveTo explore the efficacy of Jiedu Kaiqiao decoction combined with western medicine on purulent meningitis in children.MethodsA total of 122 children with purulent meningitis admitted to this hospital between August 2018 and September 2020 were selected, and they were randomly divided into the experimental group(61 cases, Jiedu Kaiqiao decoction combined with meropenem dripping) and the control group(61 cases, meropenem dripping).The treatment course was one week. The total effective rate, protein level, white blood cell count, cerebrospinal fluid pressure, procalcitonin(PCT), C-reactive protein(CRP) and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) were compared between the two groups.ResultsThe total effective rate was 95.08% in the experimental, which was higher than that of the control group(81.97%)(P<0.05). After treatment the level of protein, white blood cell count,cerebrospinal fluid pressure and the levels of PCT, CRP and TNF-α of experiment group were all lower than those of the control group(P<0.05).ConclusionJiedu Kaiqiao decoction combined with meropenem can help relieve the inflammatory response and cerebrospinal fluid pressure, and reduce the white blood cell count and protein level of children with purulent meningitis, with significant clinical efficacy.
