Abstract: The etiology of tic disorder in children is complicated, the symptoms are various, and it is easy to be affected by social environment, so the treatment is challenging. Based on many years of clinical experience and through the combination with the theory of TCM and the characteristics of the disease, Professor Ma Rong first established the "Three-stem syndrome differentiation" mode for the treatment of children with tic disorder. The main content is as follows. The first step is disease differentiation, which is to take the root cause as the main point and make clear diagnosis. The second step is syndrome differentiation, which is to classify the syndrome and give prescription based on rules. The third step is symptom differentiation, which is to be clear with the symptoms and make modification. The differentiation of the disease is mainly the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of Chinese and western medicine, and the clinical descriptive diagnosis is used to exclude the symptoms of eye tutting and nose shrugs caused by allergic conjunctivitis and allergic rhinitis. The syndrome differentiation is mainly based on the TCM syndromes of the children, and the main treatment principle is to calm the wind and stop movement. The patients with exogenous wind evil were the syndrome of exogenous wind and were treated with Yinqiao powder with modification. The patients with both beating other people and destroying objects and obscene language were the syndrome of phlegm-fire disturbing the heart, and were treated with Ditan decoction. The patients with irritability were qi stagnation turning into fire, and Xieqing pills were used with modification. The patients who were sensitive with too many doubts and much anxiety were qi stagnation activating wind, and they were treated with Chaihu Guizhi Longgu Muli decoction with modification. Symptom differentiation is based on disease differentiation and syndrome differentiation, and the drugs for treatment are selected according to different parts of twitches and different vocal manifestations, which plays the role of guiding meridians and directly eliminating symptoms. The "Three-step syndrome differentiation" mode has clear diagnosis and treatment plan, and can be adjusted flexibly according to disease-syndrome-symptom of the patients, which is effective in clinical practice.
