Abstract: Objective:To observe the clinical effects of montelukast sodium in the treatment of children with cough variant asthma, and to provide an effective basis for clinical medication. Methods:Totally 80 children with cough variant asthma who accepted treatments in our hospital from April 2013 to April 2015 were taken as the research objects, and these patients were randomly divided into the control group and the observation group by the random number table method, with 40 patients in each group. In the control group, they were treated with routine treatment while in the observation group, they were treated with the montelukast sodium on the basis of the treatment for the control group. All patients received a continuous treatment for 3 months. Then, the clinical treatment effect and cough relief time and cough disappearance time of two groups of patients were observed and compared. Results:After the treatment, the total effective rate in the observation group was 950%,which was significantly higher than that in the control group(775%)(P<005),and the difference had statistical significance. In addition, the cough relief time in the observation group was(514±129)d,which was significantly shorter than that in the control group(981±156)d;the cough disappearance time was(652±158)d,which was significantly shorter than that in the control group(1079±186)d(P<005),and the difference had statistical significance. Conclusion:The clinical effects of montelukast sodium in the treatment of children with cough variant asthma are good, thus should be promoted and applied in the clinics.
